The Flying Scotsman - DVD
'The Flying Scotsman' is unquestionably the most famous steam locomotive in the world, but the complicated story of how it became such a National Treasure is relatively unknown. Illustrated by evocative footage of the engine at work, this fascinating DVD traces the story from the locomotive’s return from Australia after achieving its most recent record - the world’s longest non-stop run behind steam – through to its acquisition by the nation and its display at the National Railway Museum at York.
In this programme we see 'The Flying Scotsman' with single and double-chimney fittings, German smoke deflectors and LNER Apple Green and British Railways Brunswick Green liveries, working from Carnforth in the North to Salisbury in the South, as well as on the ‘Ride the Legend’ excursions to Scarborough.
